Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area – Pennsylvania

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, named for the S-shaped pass cut through the mountains by the Delaware River, has long been a haven for those wanting to escape the cities for the calm of the forest. Located about two hours from both New York City and Philadelphia, this area has been a major vacation spot since the 1800s and was officially designated as a National Recreational Area in 1965.

After spending just over a week in New York City I decided to take a trip into the wilderness to slow things down and breathe some fresh air and this was just the place to get both. The main roads on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River wound through the countryside to offer some nice views of the river and a short hike provided me a dramatic look at Dingman’s Falls before I headed back to the city.
