Charles Young Buffalo Soldier National Monument Ohio

Images of Charles Young Buffalo Soldier National Monument Central Ohio, taken in April 2022.

Charles Young Buffalo Soldier National Monument was established in 2013 to honor the service of Colonel Charles Young as well as the African American units, Buffalo Soldiers, created in the segregated US Army of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Born into slavery, Charles Young was only the third African American to graduate from West Point, served as commander of the 9th Cavalry and later became the first superintendent of Sequoia National Park.

As a new park the center of attraction, Youngsholm, was being renovated and the visitor center was temporarily being hosted by the nearby Payne Theological Seminary so I was only able to view the house from the road.
