9/11 Memorial – New York

On lower Manhattan under the massive One World Trade Center sits the hallowed grounds of what were once the north and south towers of the World Trade Center. Today an expansive set of memorial pools, North and South, mark the footprints of the two buildings that were brought down on September 11 2001 by terrorists in hijacked commercial airlines.

The 9/11 Memorial, and the names etched into the stone that surrounds the two pools, honors each of the 2,996 lives lost here on that fateful day.
