Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge – North Carolina

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge sits on the Outer Banks of North Carolina nestled between Bodie Island to the north and Hatteras Island on the south.

Overseen and maintained by the US Fish and Wildlife Service this small sliver of the Outer Banks is primarily a bird refuge, however, my visit was more about turtles as the bird population is low during the hot and humid summer months.
