Baxter State Park – Maine

With the tallest peak in Maine, Mount Katahdin (5,269 ft.), at its heart Baxter State Park is a wilderness and recreational area along the western boarder of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument.

Much like the National Monument, this park is covered in thickly wooded land with creeks and rivers running through it and multiple ponds and lakes providing areas for people to go for recreational purposes. All roads are dirt and gravel but are well maintained so that access is safe for all vehicles.
