The heart of Yellowstone National Park is the Upper Geyser Basin, home to the Morning Glory Pool and perhaps the most famous geyser in the world, Old Faithful. This is where the majority of the world’s active geysers reside. Loaded with geysers, hot springs and pools, fumaroles and mudpots this is hands down the most popular area in the park.

I arrived early in the morning armed with knowledge of the scheduled eruption of the Riverside Geyser; 8:55 am give or take 20 minutes. I had forgotten how far it was from the Old Faithful Inn parking area to the site of the geyser so I had to hoof it down the trail to make the possible early eruption time. I was a little late for that early estimate but Riverside Geyser was right on time, erupting into the Firehole River as scheduled. This is normally known as an afternoon photo opportunity but I found the sight of the erupting geyser backlit by the sun with the water being expelled falling like rain into the Firehole River uniquely beautiful.

After that show I toured the rest of the geyser basin to include being treated to the eruption of the Beehive Geyser and two eruptions of the famed Old Faithful Geyser.

Wow! You saw 3 different geyser eruptions in 1 trip. Jerry you are so lucky. I went there last summer and only saw old faithful in action. Love morning glory -- stunning color change when sun is out.
