Desert National Wildlife Refuge – Nevada

Although Desert National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1936 the day I arrived volunteers were putting the finishing touches on the newly built visitor center which would open the following week. I had actually ventured to the area to visit the north end of the Tule Spring Fossil Beds National Monument and thought that this visitor center might have some information on the park. Unable to get that I still had the opportunity to walk several of the trails which led me through a spring fed area close by.
