History of the Last Stand - Real Bird Reenactment – Montana

2018 marked 142 years since the famous Battle of the Little Bighorn was fought. Once a year, on the anniversary of the battle, the Crow Nation organizes and performs the Real Bird Reenactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn which begins with participants acting out a short history of the area.

More than a hundred people participated in the show and at one point Indian Warriors stampeded over 100 horses into the area in front of the spectator stands, what a spectacular sight! Not something you see every day, or even ever, except in a movie or on TV! It was just a small portion of an exceptional performance culminating with the reenactment of the battle itself.

One other interesting item was the addition of a camera crew who were there shooting a documentary titled “Inconvenient Indian”. We’ll have to watch out for that production in the future.
