It’s time once again to reveal the images so miscellaneous that I couldn’t find a gallery to put them in…and having been inundated by gallery links this year, you surely know that I had plenty of galleries to choose from! So even though you may be photo weary I know from past experience that there is a high level of interest in this year-end compilation of misfit photographs.

From the beginning of the year “super moon” over Tucson to rainbows north of the Grand Canyon and the wide open skies over Idaho and Wyoming, Mother Nature was a significant factor in this year’s trip. Nowhere was that more evident than in California where wildfires destroyed thousands of acres of land and left large areas of the state covered by a thick blanket of smoke and ash. Here you’ll find those events represented by some images of the relatively small (45 acre) Black Mountain West Marin Fire.

But there was also plenty to celebrate, stumble upon, explore, and wonders to ponder; Wine tasting in Napa Valley; the very first JC Penney store in Wyoming; a very menacing stray sheep in Fossil Butte National Monument; a cow chilling in a pond next to the road; the odd sight of a runaway truck ramp leading to a house and a whimsical display of floating golf carts. Along with that there were large areas in California dominated by wind and solar farms, a gigantic Idaho potato on a flatbed truck and an equally colossal woman towering over the road in Pearsonville California…the self-proclaimed “Hub Cap Capital of the World”!
