Grand Canyon National Park – South Rim – Arizona

From any viewpoint the Grand Canyon is simply put, majestic. It is hard to wrap your mind around what you are looking at; the scale of what is before you is hard to comprehend. I’ve stood on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon several times before and each time I marvel at the site of looking into a canyon that looks into a canyon that looks into a canyon. Nowhere else have I experienced such a sense of awe; attempting to grasp the concepts of the expansiveness of time and power of water and wind. At this point, as you think about how it was created and how long it took to become what is laid before you, you realize that maybe the best approach to viewing this canyon is to simply appreciate its beauty and revel in its magnificence. The layers of colorful rock; the twists and turns of the Colorado River and the dark patterns that the clouds above cast on the rugged landscape miles away and far below your vantage point.

This is a place everyone should experience; as for me, I’ve had the good fortune to experience it three times in the past five months! From the remote Toroweap Overlook that few people see because of the 85 mile dirt road trek required to get there; to the out of the way but more easily accessible North Rim and finally the “overrun-by-tourists” South Rim, I’ve covered this park from all the above-the-rim angles. Majestic, magnificent, amazing…awe-inspiring…

Tourists taking selfies on Bright Angel Trail was pretty frustrating. However, those tourist disappear after about 1/4 mile down. Great set of images, Jerry!
