Biosphere2 – Arizona

Built in the late 1980’s to research self-sustaining space-colonization technology, Biosphere2 hosted two Human Missions, one lasting two years, between 1991 and 1994.

The 40 acre campus includes 7.2 million feet enclosed under 6,500 windows on 3.14 acres and includes a tropical jungle, ocean and desert environments.

Today Biosphere2 is owned and managed by the University of Arizona in Tucson as an ecosystem processes research facility.
