Fort Vancouver National Historical Site protects the location of the fort constructed by the British to house the giant fur trading organization known as the Hudson Bay Company. In the early 1800’s this was the fur trading capital of the Pacific coast. This site is reconstructed to replicate the fort as it was during that period.
Fort Vancouver also housed active US military during the twentieth century as represented by the Vancouver Barracks which were used during World War I.
