Chimney Rock National Historic Site – Nebraska

Wagon trains on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails all used Chimney Rock as a landmark on their trek across the Nebraska prairie to guide them on their trip westward. Today the North Platt River Valley formation is actually shorter than it was when used by the settlers because of erosion and lightning strikes but it is still a prominent feature in the area.

Chimney Rock National Historic Site was created in 1956 and is now administered by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
