San Diego Zoo – California

No trip to San Diego would be complete without a trip to the world famous San Diego Zoo. And touring the zoo is no small task as it is a sprawling complex with canyons and treetop trails.

After taking the 30 minute bus tour to get the “lay of the land” I set out on my own to visit as much of the park as I could focusing primarily on some of the more popular animals and those that would give me a clear photo opportunity. Of course I made a point to see the Panda Bear and was lucky enough to get to see the baby Gorilla. But the biggest thrill was seeing the Koala Bear…one that was actually awake! Eating and moving! Of course it wasn’t long before the Koala settled back in and went to sleep, after all, eating is exhausting!
