Images of Fantasy Canyon – Northeastern Utah, taken in May 2016.
This small canyon in the middle of nowhere and among multiple oil fields is filled with all sorts of odd and interesting sandstone formations. It is a raw, undeveloped area at the end of a long dirt road. The trails are hard to follow but the interesting factor is very high with strange shapes that in some cases defy gravity.
On the way out of the area I came upon a small group of Pronghorn Antelope that froze in place as soon as they saw me. As I moved the car forward toward them, they bolted. I made a tight U-turn and hit the gas. They were running alongside the road so I was able to pass them and come to a near stop while shooting pictures out the driver side window allowing me to get a decent shot of them in full stride; a little “photo safari” excitement added to my Fantasy Canyon trip.
