Dinosaur National Monument - Utah / Colorado

Images of Dinosaur National Monument in northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado, May 2016.

Dinosaur National Monument stretches across two states, Utah and Colorado, and protects the famous Dinosaur Quarry as well as some spectacular canyons created by the Green and Yampa rivers.

The highlight of the Dinosaur Quarry is a building that houses the “Wall of Bones” rock layer which holds over 1500 dinosaur fossils. Tilted to 67 degrees the wall allows visitors to easily review the remains of the flesh eating Allosaurus along with the plant eating Diplodicus and Stegosaurus among others.

To the east lies the less visited canyon area of the park. A trip along the Harpers Corner Drive offers incredible canyon and wildlife viewing. But if you are able to get off of the paved road and into the canyons, as I did, the views become even more spectacular…
