Dead Horse Point State Park - Utah

Images of Dead Horse State Park – eastern Utah, taken in April 2016.

Dead Horse State Park located on the edge of Canyonlands National Park is more of the same…spectacular views of the canyons carved out by the Colorado River.

The park name is derived from a legend surrounding the cowboys using it to round up wild mustangs, herd them through a 30 foot neck of land and onto the point where they would trap them by closing off the neck by creating a fence made of branches. The story has the cowboys selecting the best horses and then, for some reason, leaving the rest trapped on the waterless point where they died of thirst. An interesting legend for breathtaking park.
