Aztec Ruins National Monument – New Mexico

Images of Aztec Ruins National Monument – Northcentral New Mexico, taken in April 2016.

Influenced by Chaco culture the settlement protected in Aztec Ruins National Monument was a center for the Ancestral Pueblo people’s ceremonial life from AD 1000 through the AD 1200s. This site is unique because of the well preserved original wood roofs as well as the massive scale of the structures that included at least 500 rooms some of which rose to three stories high.
