Key West, at the tip of the Florida Keys, has long been known for its eclectic residents and artsy, laid back atmosphere. It’s a key tourist destination for anyone that gets off the mainland and an oasis for people seeking to get away from their normal lives. Besides visiting the Southernmost Point in the US, the “Little White House” and the Hemingway House there are the requisite shops, restaurants and fishing charter options to satisfy every type of tourist.

Then there’s Duval Street and the surrounding area which is packed with dive bars playing live music and populated with interesting characters. As the go to party location in the keys it is crowded most of the day but things really pick up after the sun goes down as the aforementioned characters come out to play. Now I happened to be in town for the beginning of Fantasy Fest so what I was seeing may have been influenced by the incoming “festers” but some of these people had to be locals, they just looked so at home perched on their barstools! It all made an interesting location even more interesting…
