Finally! I have captured the elusive, at least for me, Bighorn Sheep Ram! There, on the side of a mountain in Horseshoe Park in Rocky Mountain National Park, was the prize. The first time at this site there were two and when I went back a few days later there was a group of five with a baby as a bonus. I’ll still be looking for more of these guys in the future because I want to get closer to them for a better shot but at least I’ve had the privilege of finally seeing them!

Rocky Mountain National Park was full of wildlife! Everywhere I went there were animals, most are currently in the lowlands as snow covers most of the mountaintops but they will soon be migrating to the higher altitudes for the summer. The Yellowbellied Marmot was the exception; I saw them at some of the highest altitudes along the Trail Ridge Road. Elk were all over the place, there were so many it got to the point that I wouldn’t even stop when I saw them on the side of the road. And it was on the west side of the park that I saw some of the largest occupants in the park, the Moose. I caught a cow reflected in the tiny winding Colorado River and downstream a young bull feeding on the brush.

As incredible as the scenery is in this park, the abundance of wildlife certainly added to the thrill of being here!
