Glacier Bay National Park – Alaska

Gouged out by a 100 mile long glacier, Glacier Bay is now the avenue by which millions of people each year view Glacier Bay National Park. There is only one short road into the park, the one that leads from the Gustavus airfield to the Glacier Bay Lodge and Visitor Center, so it was in a small tour boat that I explored the park. The bay is teeming with wildlife from the Humpback Whales, Stellar and Harbor Seals, Otters and Puffins in or around the water to the Brown Bears and Mountain Goats that roam along the shores. However, it is the majestic glaciers and the mountains they originate in that steal the show. The massive ice flows which are constantly moving and changing, some with a bay terminus and others in the mountains or on land, create a beautiful vista no matter which way you look.
