Images of Mount Vernon, Monticello and Montpelier – Virginia, taken in July 2014.
George Washington and Mount Vernon, Thomas Jefferson and Monticello and James Madison and Montpelier; the first, third and fourth Presidents of the United States respectively were all Virginia residents with estates that are preserved in their honor to this day. As I worked my way toward Washington DC I wound through the Virginia countryside so that I could visit these three famous estates. I toured Mount Vernon and Monticello and was impressed with the architecture as well as the history surrounding the men who owned these incredible estates.
