Niagara Falls – From the Canadian Side

Images of Niagara Falls from the Canadian Side – along the US/Canada border, taken in July 2014.

Observing Niagara Falls from the Canadian side of the boarder provides unparalleled views of both the US Falls and Horseshoe Falls. It is amazing to walk along the edge of the gorge and not only see and hear the power of the falls but feel the mist created from the water dropping 167 feet into the gorge. That mist created rainbows that floated over the falls as the sun moved through the sky and had a welcome cooling effect during the hot summer day. 600,000 gallons of water go over the falls every second; the only thing more amazing was the incredible number of people taking “selfies”…I wonder if any of them actually got a picture of the falls?

As amazing as the site was from the rim of the gorge, it was even more spectacular from the Skylon tower where I was able to take in the entire scene from 56 stories above the city of Niagara Falls. Nightly during the summer months the city lights up the falls and sets off fireworks for the throngs of visitors. Since I was there on the Fourth of July I could also see the many fireworks displays going off in the US to include the city of Buffalo.
