Zion National Park, Utah

Images of the dramatic rock formations, cliffs and towering mountains of Zion National Park in southwestern Utah, taken in April 2008.

Zion has two distinct areas of interest, the east side of the park which is highlighted by oddly shaped hills and mesas and Zion Canyon where you find towering jagged mountains, and canyons surrounded by smooth rock cliffs. The latter area is now only accessible by shuttle but is spectacular to visit.

I stayed just outside the park in Springdale at the Desert Pearl Inn (suggested by a fellow independent and adventurous soul like myself) which had a pretty incredible view of the south side of the park and was one of the more attractive places I stayed in during my travels.
