Monument Valley, Arizona

Images of the incredibly picturesque Monument Valley (Tse’ Bii Ndzisgaii) Navajo Tribal Park which stretches south from Utah into Arizona along US Highway 163, taken in April 2008.

I stayed 20 miles north of Monument Valley at the San Juan Inn and Trading Post overlooking the San Juan River in Mexican Hat Utah. From there I took several trips at different times of the day (sunrise, dusk, sunset, etc.) to photograph the valley as the lighting shifted on the formations.

Most of the images were taken from US Highway 163, or within the Navajo Tribal Park on the 17 mile unpaved loop road.
