After shopping for leather jackets we shopped for scarfs because we were FREEZING OUR ASSES OFF. I should add that I rode my motorcycle to Florence for this trip. It was -6 C (21 F) on the way back. I rode in 45 minute increments until I got to Rome, where it was finally warm enough to ride continuously (no electric clothing or hand grips for you BMW riders).
