Bargy castle was built in the 13th century . It later became the home of Sir Bagenal Harvey - who was one of leaders of 1798 Rebellion - and was in charge of United Irishmen at Battle of New Ross - which Rebels lost .the rebels took New Ross - but then got drunk and British retook it Harvey was hanged from Wexford Bridge for his part in the rising .
The castle later became home of singer Chris De Burgh .
