Raju, wonderful photos indeed. Recently got an opportunity to visit Kotagiri and totally flat with scenic beauty there. Decided to spend most of my rest of the life there. Planning to buy a piece of land to construct a house and live there. Hope things go in my favour and my wish is fulfilled.

I grew in Kotagiri during the war, and went to that Military School
in Ooty for a shoprt while. I am now in my 73rd: year and very much
want to come back to Kotagiri before I leave this Earth, also to see
if my Mother's Grave is still there in kotagiri.

hi folks, I recently went to kotagiri ( yesterday, i returned ) . It is beautifull with its salubrious climate. now, There are quite a lot of places to stay like Hope park hotel, Ridge way home stay etc etc.

Raju, Your photos are beautiful and bring back memories. I grew up in Kotagiri went to school in Lovedale and Coonoor in the 40's left with my parents. My Grandfather Shortland retired from the Indian Civil Service and built abeautiful house on the road to Coonoor/Ooty?, do not remember. The house was called Belvedere. Do you know of it? My mother, I believe donated it to the religous order that Sister Theresa belonged too. If you know of it I would be interested in learning of it. cowmer@yahoo.com

I.m coming back-Find me 5 acres with a reasonable bungalow and good water and I,m there within the week-I,ve lived in Australia for 40 years but my heart has been in the Nilgiris and Kotagiri since 1950- My father previously owned tea and coffee plantations so we shifted when we sold them-I wan,t to spend my retiring years there- Like the photos so keep them coming-

Raju, It is amazing to me that any contact that I make with India Hill Stations or the like, asking about Hotel or Rental opportunities in Kotagiri, that one never ever gets a response, and that is why I latched on to you, poor fellow, as obviously you live in Kotagiri and would be able to assist in any plans that I might make in coming back to a place I lived in in 1942/43. I would truly appreciate an answer if it is not too much trouble. Thanks!

Any infomation you could give me on houses for Rent or the like would be much appreciated. In those days there was a wonderful Hotel called the Blue Mountain that hung over the valley many many feet below. Your photographs cause memories to be revived. There was a Dr: Govind who looked after me during my seemingly endless bouts of malaria. Long gone no doubt! Many thanks for any information and hopes that you will keep in touch.
