Sunset Park has a split personality. Half of the park is developed for heavy public use, and contains playgrounds, softball fields, a splash pad, picnic areas, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a dog park, and a man-made lake for fishing. The other half is undeveloped and preserves the last remaining dunes of what once covered most of Paradise Valley. A paved trail runs through the undeveloped preserve, though it is surrounded by cable fencing to protect the dunes and sensitive bird habitat. This park wasn't high on my list of birding places, but as it was only 15 minutes from the hotel it made for a good place to kill some time.
