Marathyssa sp.

Shirley's Bay, Ottawa

This is either Marathyssa basalis (Hodges #8956) or Marathyssa inficita (Hodges #8955). Adults typically rest with their wings furled and abdomen curled in a "C" shape, as shown above. The larvae feed on poison ivy, a common plant along the Shirley's Bay dyke where this fella was found.
