Pelecinid Wasp (Pelecinus polyturator)

Greenwood, NS

While looking for odonates along the Annapolis River, I noticed this interesting wasp. These distinctive wasps are found in forests, especially
deciduous forests, and the female is easily identified by its long six-segmented abdomen which is about five times the length of the rest of the body.
