Williamson's Emerald (Somatochlora williamsoni)

Bill Mason Center, Dunrobin

While out dragonflying with Chris Lewis, she noticed this emerald perching on the side of a mullein plant. I took several photos before she caught
it in her net and examined the claspers with a hand lens. This male is an uncommon species in Ottawa and usually only flies until mid-August!
