Gamla Stan

Gamla Stan is a small island which has been inhabited since the 13th century. Sitting between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea, it is famous for its cobblestone streets and vibrant, ochre-colored buildings, the Royal Palace (Kungliga Slottet), and the main square named Stortorget which contains historic merchant houses and the Nobel Prize Museum.
