Without flowers, there would be far fewer insects and butterflies to brighten our world. I have been slowly getting to know the common wildflowers of the area; a particularly useful website for identifying these colourful and sometimes showy plants can be found at http://www.wildflowersofontario.ca/list1.html .

At first I thought about arranging these images randomly, without consideration to colour or taxonomy, since wildflowers themselves grow without order or organization in nature. As my gallery expanded, however, and it seemed more suitable to create sub-galleries based on colour since I know very little about plant taxonomy. Within each gallery the flowers are arranged by bloom time. And who knows, if you look closely enough, you might even find the odd visitor or two enjoying these flowers' nectar!
