Family Dytiscidae - Predaceous Diving Beetles

Predaceous diving beetles occur in a variety of freshwater habitats across the globe. Both the adults and larvae are predators. The larvae are known as water tigers due to their voracious appetite, although their feeding style is much more like a Robber Fly's - after biting their prey they deliver digestive enzymes into the organism and then ingest the liquefied tissues and organs.
