There are four species found in Eastern Ontario - Beaverpond Baskettail, Common Baskettail, Spiny Baskettail and Prince Baskettail. They have spindle-shaped abdomens and some dark pigmentation in the wings (least pronounced in the similar-looking Beaverpond and Spiny Baskettails). Baskettails are often seen flying near ponds, although they may feed over nearby fields or roads. They seldom perch.
