My fiance, father and I spent four nights at the Canisbay Lake campground in Algonquin in late July, 2011. We had more sun than rain this time, and didn't have any bears in the campground either! We visited the Peck Lake Trail, a portion of the Mizzy Lake Trail, the Spruce Bog boardwalk, and the Whiskey Rapids Trail twice. Dragonflies were a highlight of the trip, and I added four new species to my life list. The only Algonquin specialty we saw in the bird department was a single Gray Jay, but both Hermit Thrush and Winter Wren serenaded us every day at our campsite, Common Loons patrolled the lake regularly, and a Broad-winged Hawk was chased out of our campsite by a couple of irate robins and vireos!
