The antartica has fairly large population of penguins. This image shows a group of penguins standing in a row, the water below their feet is frozen hard to form ice. The climate is surely very cold and chilly. Penguins have a few tricks of their own to keep themselves a bit warm despite the outside weather being chilly. Being in a group is one of the measures the penguins take to reduce the feel of the severe cold. Much like people, the penguin holds it's wings tightly against it's side. This is also done to keep away at least some of the cold. The multiple layers of feathers that are present on the body of the penguin obviously has a role to play in helping the bird get some warmth.
