Pro Taper Handlebars

These are pics of the adapter and handlebars I made for my Connie.
The handlebars are Pro Taper Hawkins woods high P/N 02-7957. The mount is Pro Taper P/N 02-4898. The mount is for a rubber mount handlebar, but I just turned a couple of spacers out of 1" aluminum round stock and mounted the bars solid. The adapter plate is 3/8" aluminum plate sitting on top of Gen Mar handlebar risers. I tried to get the bars as far back as possible without hitting the tank. I just made a template out of clear plastic and transferred to the plate. I then used my Bosch saber saw to cut out the outline. A little sanding had it ready for drilling.
The brake line was too short and had to be replaced, the clutch line needed to be relocated as did the other cables. The bar end weights were mounted on some Bark Buster mounts for a Pro Taper bar. I added a spacer and a longer allen bolt--works like a charm.
All in all this is a great mod. Gone is the low speed unstability, and I feel much more in control. The vibes are almost nonexistant up to 4500RPM. I am happy.
