For the start of the trip, we wanted to get the cobwebs out so we rode up Mt Evans which is the highest motorway in N America. Most of the car companies use the road for testing--if the car runs at 14K feet it should have no problem any where else.
Then we were off to Baxter pass where Jeff had gone astray following the GPS trying to get from Vernal, UT to Grand Junction, CO. He ended up there at night with his wife and son in an Astro Van who were sure they were going to die. We went back so Jeff could have a second shot at it. After roaming around the area, we figured we would take a short cut following the GPS and had more adventures. Let me tell you lifting a KLR650 which has fallen into a rut at 11K feet is no easy task.
