Kawasaki Concours Coolant Resevoir Relocate

I relocated the coolant resevoir on my Connie from the front of the lower fairing to under the right side cover. I removed the stock resevoir and made a replacement from a pint brake fluid bottle. The hose from the radiator goes in the bottom and the vent goes out the top. Inlet, outlet are screw type valve stems. I used the stock hoses, and will cut down the vent since it has to go 1/2 as far as stock. Notice there is plenty of airflow over the exhaust now. As suggested I finished off the inlet with a 1/8x1/2 steel brace and some aluminum perforated sheet. Until I find a suitable resevoir this is what I will be using.
Good luck,
Doug
Hi All,
The final product uses a ZRX1100 (or1200) resevoir. It fits perfect and has the same capacity as the stock resevoir. I used an Adele clamp and a zip tie to secure the res. You could weld on tabs if you wanted. Since I am using a Progressive shock, I do not use the shock bracket so I used it to secure the bottom of the res. The black plastic is a closeout for the ZRX and you should make sure you get it. The stock res hose is just rerouted to follow the stock overflow hose and does not need to be cut. The ZRX overflow hose is bent and you should try to get it too--it fits perfect.
This is how I am going to run my Connie from now on.
Good luck,
Doug
As it seems to be with these things, you are never really done. While better than stock, the heat on my right leg was still annoying. First, I removed the screen to move some more air. Then, I first thought about leaving the bottom of the fairing off, but later just cut a hole in both sides using a 2" and 3" hole saw and cutting out the remaining plastic. Notice I also removed the plastic that covers the oil filter cover. No longer will I have to remove the lower fairing for an oil change.
Much better! I rode in 85 deg. F heat to work the last 2 days and the blistering heat on my right leg was gone.
My vacation will be much more comfortable this summer.
Doug
