As a member in the Hanseatic League, people of Tallin are still proud of it until today. Similar to Riga, Tallin used to be under the control of German merchants. Estonia became part of Soviet Union in the last century, and announced its independence in 1992.
Tallin is a very small but extremely beautiful city. The new town is built perfectly integrated with the well-preserved old city wall, which makes the town compact and harmonious. It is quite a mixture of Eastern and Northern Europe.
