Yeah, our guy is in the second line -- still can't see him? Well, with those close hair cuts, most of the guys all look alike anyhow. Then again, in a sense, they have all become our sons and daughters.
During the actual process of distributing the coins, they play the Ray Charles version of "America".
It's very moving & inspirational. The music plays while the MTI's step in precision person-by-person handing out the coin with a quick handshake.
There's a lot of sniffling going on in the bleachers. Some of it may be due to the unusually cold weather this day. But I suspect
that most of the sniffles are due to tears of pride and joy building up during this very emotional ceremony. Before the ceremony begins,
parents are invited to queue up before crews of video folks who film the ceremony to send along a short message of congratulations to their Airman.
My wife goes down to leave our message. I stay in the stands because I didn't think I could get the words out. Of course I tell her that I'll stay here to do
my photography thing.
