It could be called Bogus Bavaria, but you still have to admire the citizens of Leavenworth, Washington. In the 20s the town was abandoned by the railroad which led to the collapse of the local lumbering industry. The town was about to dry up for good by the 60s when the locals, inspired by their alpine mountain scenery, decided to remake Leavenworth as a Bavarian Village appealing to the tourist. They did a pretty good job of it as evidenced by the large crowds visiting each year.
