Los Encinos SHP

The five acre Los Encinos State Historic Park in the San Fernando Valley of California is all that remains of the 4,460 acre Rancho Los Encinos. Originally part of the San Fernando Mission property, Los Encinos (The Oaks) eventually was sold to Vincente De La Osa in 1849, who built the nine room adobe still standing on the property. French brothers Eugene and Phillipe Garnier bought the rancho in 1868 and added several buildings including the two story limestone house, blacksmith shop, and food storehouse. The park includes a large spring-fed pond that is home to a large population of birds.
