The Viking Mekong ship construction was completed in 2021, but because of COVID, she did not go into service until 2022. With a 2 meter draft, she was designed for cruising the Mekong, which can get pretty low in the dry season due to dozens of dams upstream in the river basin in Thailand and Laos. She is 230 ft long and 36 ft wide. Passenger capacity is 80. Crew numbers 50. We found the cabins to be a little cozier than those on the ocean ships, but very well designed and easy to adjust to. The bridge was very simplistic compared to those on ocean ships, but the captain assured us he had all the instrumentation he needs to keep the ship safe.
