Chongqing is the embarkation point for Yangtze River cruises heading east. It is quite hilly, similar to San Francisco, and experiences a lot of fog year-round. It is known for its high tech industry, and the economy is growing at close to 20%/yr. Over the next ten years close to 10 million displaced farmers will be relocated to the Chongqing area. Many of these will be placed in 99 new high rise residences to be built on the peninsula housing the opera house.
