Our trip started in Beijing, which is rich in cultural sites. Beijing is a mix of old (hutongs) and new, but the hutongs are slowly being displaced by the need for high rise residences. The hutongs show how citizens have lived in China for centuries. The Great Wall is much steeper than the pictures suggest. The Olympic site was impressive.
