I'm trying to find anybody that knew Corporal Daniel J. Curran. He was on temporary assignment from the 11th Armored Cav. because they were short on staff. Anyway he was with A troop, 1st Sqdn, 4th Calvalry, 1 Inf. Division. He was killed on his birthday on March 30, 1969 in the battle of the Michelin Rubber Plantation in Binh Duong in South Vietnam. I would like to know if anyone knew him from the 11th Armored Calvary? Sure could use some help locating somebody that knew him.

I've been looking all over the internet for the basecamp I was stationed at in RVN, Blackhorse, 11th ACR. I was a UH-1C crewchief. I found a map of the compound but this picture really brings back the memories of of when we pulling Ambush Patrol. We loaded up the PC's before dark and headed out through the rubber trees. It was usually a 7 man patrol and we would set up in an L formation. We would sit all night and listen and wait for Charlie to make a move. The grass we laid in was called Elephant Grass. It grew to about 3 foot high and would provide good cover. Night time in the rain was rather uncomfortable as the leaches would attach themselfs to your wet head. Coming back to the hooch in the morning my buddies would pick the leaches off then burn the heads out with a lit cigerette. I have a thousand stories but not enough room here. Thanks!!
