4/10: Red Bird

Here's a nifty trick I tried on this picture that worked. This bird is inside of a cage at the zoo. It was a fairly small mesh fence between me and the bird -- the fence was about 2 feet in front of me.

I set my aperture wide (f2.0) to make a very shallow DOF, then switched the lens to Manual Focus and hand-focused on the bird. The fence in the foreground is completely invisible.

That is an incredible trick. I love the bright color in this image and I love the fence you see in the background how it has the DoF in there. Great shot.

I've done that...yes it obviously does work, and you got an excellent result. The color of the bird is striking. Excellent detail.
